About PNW Explorer

Pacific Northwest Explorer grew out of my interest in nature, the arts, photography, travel, and my love of the Pacific Northwest. I’m a retired environmental tech, an amateur photographer, an art lover, and an avid traveler. My wife and I currently reside in Lake Oswego, Oregon.

The Pacific Northwest is one of the most beautiful areas of the world and, in my opinion, one of the best places to live. I created this blog to highlight some of the more interesting and beautiful places and some of the more interesting events in the Northwest, to pass on some of my knowledge and experiences, and to share some of my photos. As much as I love the Northwest, I also love exploring other parts of the world, so you will also find posts here highlighting other parts of the United States, plus Canada and Europe.

I hope you enjoy these posts, maybe learn something new, and hopefully come back regularly to see and read more. And I hope they inspire you to visit the Pacific Northwest if you’re not already a resident.

Site update (10/21/24): Last year I added a new category – “Hike of the Week” – that you’ll see on the menu bar of the Title Page. Since these posts never (or seldom) have come weekly, I’m transitioning them into either the Pacific Northwest Destinations or Beyond the Northwest categories. Hike of the Week is now a sub-category of those categories. It will remain on the Title Page menu bar (for now), and the Hike of the Week page will remain, but may be renamed at some point.
