About PNW Explorer

Pacific Northwest Explorer grew out of my interest in nature, the arts, photography, travel, and my love of the Pacific Northwest. I’m a retired environmental tech, an amateur photographer, an art lover, and an avid traveler. My wife and I currently reside in Lake Oswego, Oregon.

The Pacific Northwest is one of the most beautiful areas of the world and, in my opinion, one of the best places to live. I created this blog to highlight some of the more interesting and beautiful places and some of the more interesting events in the Northwest, to pass on some of my knowledge and experiences, and to share some of my photos. As much as I love the Northwest, I also love exploring other parts of the world, so you will also find posts here highlighting other parts of the United States, plus Canada and Europe.

I hope you enjoy these posts, maybe learn something new, and hopefully come back regularly to see and read more. And I hope they inspire you to visit the Pacific Northwest if you’re not already a resident.

Site update (3/3/23): I’ve added a new category – “Hike of the Week” – that you’ll see on the menu bar of the Title Page. Some of the posts in this category will be edited and updated versions of previous posts that featured one or more hikes, but I will also be writing new posts that are specific to a particular trail and have more detailed information and lots of photos.
